Dusk Tactics is a turn based tactical role playing game that is currently in development for the PC/Mac/Linux. It features deep strategic gameplay that is heavily influenced by the classic era of tactical role playing games.

Features

  • Custom Engine
    Dusk Tactics is built on top of an engine that was specifically designed for tactical role playing games. Developed in Java using libgdx, the engine takes advantage of the latest in OpenGL graphics.
  • Unit Management
    Dusk Tactics allows you to manage each and every unit. Besides main characters, you'll have complete control over the growth of units. This includes choosing which abilities they learn, the equipment they wear, and what battles they participate in.
  • Troop Control
    Management of your troops is paramount in this genre. You have the power to hire, release, promote/demote units as you see fit. There are also plenty of unique units in the world you can coerce into joining your cause.
  • Dynamic Combat
    No two battles are ever the same! Each field of combat will have dynamic weather, elemental affinities and varying terrain. This information will play a large factor in choosing which units to deploy. 
  • Weather Woes
    Always check the weather forecast before going into battle! Certain weather, such as rain, can increase the potency of Water Magick, lower projectile accuracy, and create slippery surfaces. Large concentrations of elemental energy can cause unique weather patterns to emerge that you'll need to handle on the fly!
  • Myriad of Movement
    You may find it advantageous to match your units movement type to the battle terrain. Maps may have large bodies of water, hot pools of magma,  or even bottomless pits with which units will have to contend. While most units travel by foot over land, some may be able to swim, others able to walk across the surface of water,  and others still able to traverse through magma! There are plenty of different terrain types, and tons of abilities and magick items that will allow you to come up with your own way to handle troop movement.
  • Record System
    All units will come with a backstory that combines their experiences both before and after they joined up with you. These experiences will continue to grow as you play. Feel free to check up on the current status of your units to see the latest info including any awards they've won, combat experience, how many battles they fought in, how many foes they felled, their current feelings towards certain characters, and much more.
  • Jobs, Jobs, and more Jobs!
    The Job/Class system is something Dusk Tactics is centered around. Units train and learn abilities through the various Jobs that exist. Starting with the basics such as Warrior or Scout, units will unlock new Jobs as they increase their Job Rank. There will be many options available and some Jobs may have multiple requirements, especially the more advanced ones.
    Want to be a Holy Knight? You'd better follow a strict moral code as you go through the various tiers of knighthood...
  • Robust World Map
    An entire world exists for you to explore! Visit many different locations on a large and constantly expanding world map. Do business at towns, re-stock at forts, and battle monsters in the wild.
  • Many Unique Characters
    With more than a dozen unique characters planned, each of which will have their own unique Job, personality, and affinities, there will be no end to finding the perfect units to deploy for a mission.
  • Rich Story
    The story is still being finalized however it's creation began before the engine was developed and it will feature a rich saga for you to experience.
    The game world is made up of many different cultures existing within close proximity to one another. You will experience this firsthand through the eyes of a member of the Kingdom of Acedia.  However, as you learn and explore, you may start to see things a bit differently. Below you can read a teaser.

Nothing Ever Ends
A great war has just ended between two major world powers. The land, bristled in a nervous tension and overwhelming malaise stands unguarded as darker powers make their move.

This is a world without a past, as the oldest records date back merely a few hundred years. Constant warfare between powerful nobility keep this topic at the back of people's minds as they struggle for basic survival.

Join Alton Alstair and Emma Slate, two loyal subjects of the Kingdom of Acedia tasked with post-war reconstruction. Their seemingly innocuous quest will reveal more than they ever wanted, forcing them to make choices that could shatter the current status quo.

Allies will be gathered from various lands using the powerful guilds known as Orders, which give access to a vast and diverse Job System. Manage a refreshing mix of familiar and unique Jobs each with their own specific style, abilities, and restrictions.

Whether they are main characters or generic units, everyone will be outfitted according to their current Job and equipment. Choosing how to outfit units and strategically deploying them is just the beginning as weather systems and dynamic map environments will constantly change the playing field.
